Mind Over Matter

I don't care who I offend with this particular blog post but I just can't stand not saying something about this matter. Three first time mothers came to me seeking help and advise on breastfeeding. They saw the pictures I posted on my Facebook wall, pictures of my freezer full of frozen breast milk. This is only in one freezer. There's another one just as full. I told them first and foremost, that I have to thank my mother and my grandmother and my mother's grandmother for passing down the good genes of high level of prolactin hormone. I also told them to not be intimidated by those pictures as the ability to produce breast milk is hereditary. Although good management does help in building stock, genetics play a major role as well. I also told them that the good genes that enable me to produce such high quantity of breast milk, were also responsible for making me infertile for the first 18 months of my marriage. Every time you complain about your day being too long. The weather too hot or too cold. Every time you feel thirsty and hungry. Or you toss perfectly edible food simply because you're too full. Every time you feel your job is too hard and salary too low. Every time you think your mother is too clingy or your baby is too noisy. And you want to get away from them. Think of this lady and her baby. I know I will. Bless your heart, dear lady. Allah will never forsake you and your child. I will say a prayer for you each time.

This is NOT my first post. I have tried many times before. Tried writing blogs, like so many of my friends have done. Where they succeeded wonderfully, I failed miserable. Where I went wrong, I never knew. But I know I have things to say. Whether people want to read it, or comment on it, or trash it, doesn't matter. Shouldn't really stop me from saying them anyway. Thanks to my friend Pipit and Keke for their support, this time I will try to NOT stop writing after this post. So here we go..
